Construction Project #????? Week 2

A lot of work has been done on the bathroom.  This is the bathroom floor where the bath leaked

The little wall is gone and the plumbing is being changed so that the bath is turned around, there will be a little more room at the end of the bath

New subfloor is down and old air conditioning vents have been capped off.  This old stack will be removed at some point

The next thing to go will be the glass block in the window

Construction Project #????? Day 6

 

Today they took out all the concrete on the bathroom floor.  Apparently, they used to pour concrete to give the tile a solid foundation-didn't stop the people before us from breaking them quite successfully!!!!!  That must have been a huge weight above the kitchen ceiling-it would kill someone if it fell through!!!!!

Trip to MBG

 We don't get to go to the Botanical Gardens as much as we used to, but it was a beautiful day to go.  Perfect day for me as the hellebores were starting to flower in the stumpery!!!!

There were a few snowdrops, they are always early.  

Lots of witch-hazel and crocus

Construction project #????? Day 5

The upstairs bathroom was attacked on Friday.  Sam said the sound was horrendous!!!!  

Surprisingly, the cats are still coming out when the construction workers leave.

 

Construction project #????? Day 3

No walls left at all, just the framing.  I thought the bathroom might have looked bigger in this state, but it 's still small!!!

Kitchen looks pretty much the same, but they have taken down the ceiling where the water damage was

This was interesting:  They had attached additional wood to the joists under the bath drain

Then, they hung this pan between the new wood to catch the leak.  Apparently, it wasn't 100% successful.  You've got to wonder why they just didn't fix the leak since they had to remove part of the ceiling......

Construction project #????? Day 2

 So much for our back sitting room, now filled with tools

and a dishwasher, and a stove.......

The kitchen did not last long, the cabinets are already gone

We are hoping they can get rid of this whole soffit and open up the area here.  The sink and dishwasher are being relocated to here

Construction project #????? Day 1

Day 1 was pretty quiet. A lot of taping off areas, bringing in tools and getting set up.  The refrigerator was moved onto the patio, we will be getting a new one that is counter depth

No point trying to cook in here on my last day of the old kitchen

Can this cat get any sadder???!!!!  I wonder how long it will take her to get over the trauma and find the new location for her treat bowl???!!!!!
