A lot can happen in a week

We had a lot going on after Maggie's graduation.  She went camping with Jan and Julie for a few days and came back with Covid.  I had a premonition that graduation would be a superspreader event!!!!  She was very sick for a couple of days, but not too bad after that.  I think the 5 day quarantine was very hard on her though.  Because  Maggie had Covid, I worked from home and so I missed SLU graduation, including the 4 students who graduated from the MD/PhD program.

Ben went back to Madrid for Summer school.  He left today and will be gone for a month.

My first trip out of St Louis

Sam and I went to a winery with some of my colleagues from SLU.  Chris had bid on a package to benefit the Health Resource Center and she invited us to go.  I told Sam this was the first time I had been outside St Louis in almost 2 years.  Covid has made my life very small......

I moved offices (again)

I have been trying to get a new carpet in my office since October 2020 as it has been flooded several times and now has a permanent water margin!!!  I have also started having a lot of throat and breathing problems and I'm convinced it's mold in the carpet.  After a year, they are finally coming to replace the carpet.  However, I am now going to move my office into the room next door because we need more space (so Andy has an office that is a little more private and we can accommodate our new helper Aaron who will be starting soon).  So, once again, I have packed up all my stuff and am on the move.
All my files are now dumped in the lab until my furniture gets moved
I've been moving furniture around to try to find the best configuration for my left handedness
My running medals are up, so I guess I'm home!!!!

25 years ago today.....

Sam and I got married 25 years ago today!!!  We should have been in Barbados right now, but, you know, COVID........

I remember it like it was yesterday, and yet it seems so far away now.  So many things have happened since that day.

We arranged a whole wedding in 3 weeks, with 100 guests, including Mum who flew over at the last minute.

There is nothing I would change-apart from maybe the hangover I had from the night before!!!!  It really was a perfect day and the past 25 years have been quite the ride.  We may not make another 25, but we'll take each day as it comes, as we always have.....

Moving into the new hospital

After 5 years of waiting, the new hospital opens tomorrow.  I had a chance to walk through some of it when it was empty, but haven't had time to fully explore yet.  I'll probably be looking for the coffee shop first!!!!  They moved all the patients into the new hospital over the weekend, and new patients coming to ER will go to the new hospital as of today.  Everything will be in the new building tomorrow.

The new doctor's office building will be open for business tomorrow, all clinic patients will now go here
The faculty offices are now in an old school building next to the new hospital.  I have been in there once for a meeting, it's about half a mile from my office, should get a lot of steps in if I go there a lot!!

I'm kinda slow.......

I've been doing yoga at home for over 4 months now.  I do it almost every day.  We don't have a lot of extra empty space in which to do it, but I have been using our bedroom.  After 4 months, I finally realized that if I moved the blanket box from the bottom of the bed, I would have so much more room.....DUH!!!!
I remember when I bought the props I would need to do yoga at home.  It was when Amazon wasn't able to fulfill orders in two days.  I thought "by the time they arrive, I'll be back at work".  Foolish thought

Yard Sale!!!!

We missed the 3-City-Wide yard sale last year, but we had saved up a bunch of stuff to try again this year.  We pulled everything out and set it all out on the patio.  We had a couple of good buys, but it was pretty quiet apart from that.  We didn't make as much as we might have hoped, but that wasn't our goal.
Benefits of our yard sale:
We made $125
We got rid of a bunch of things so have more storage room now
We gave a bunch of things to a couple of local charities
I got to spend a lot of time with Sam, which was priceless

(Very) quick trip to Baltimore

I did a quick overnight trip to Baltimore, I had never been there before and I loved it.  This was the view from my hotel window, one of the best I've had
Luckily, I had some time to go walking around after my meeting.  This statue was right by the hotel, I was staying in Harbor East
The nice thing about east coast cities is all the really old brick buildings
This is the old sewage pumping station
Barnes and Noble in the old power plant building
Maritime museum
View while I sat reading my book!!!  Absolutely perfect day
World Trade building
Submarine for Sam!!!!!
Civil War Museum
View from the other side of the water
Seven Foot Lighthouse
Inside the Barnes and Noble building-coolest bookstore I've been in here!!!!

Ben and Jane Trip to Chicago Day 3

After my meeting was over, I tracked Ben down, he had walked all the way along the lake front (several times) and was way down at the far end by Shedd aquarium, so i walked down to meet him.  We did not have time to go in anywhere, but I did get pictures of the Field Museum
Shedd Aquarium
And the Planetarium
We walked a long way!!!!
I wanted to see Buckingham Fountain
It is really lovely to see
Then we went to Millennium Park because I wanted to the "The Bean"
We had a great time.  We were there 4 days, I managed to get in the bulk of the meeting and we walked for miles and miles.  It was nice to spend so much time with Ben.  I am so glad he decided to come with me.  I would say that this was my first real trip to Chicago, I had never really been in the right place at the right time to enjoy it before and to get out and truly explore it

Ben and Jane Trip to Chicago 2019 Day 2

My conference started at lunch on day 2, so Ben and I went out for breakfast and walked around some more.  We seem to get everywhere by starting on the river trail!!!
It was a beautiful day and much cooler than yesterday
Yes, we ended up back at the Centennial Fountain again!!!!
You know who.....
Walking by the lake
Ferris wheel on Navy Pier
Time for a quick relax-actually not that relaxing, those are definitely not made for sleeping on!!!
