Art in Bloom 2018

Ben and I went to the Art In Bloom at the Art Museum. It was absolutely packed, but we got to see most of the art. It was all spectacular
This might be my favourite because it really is like the original......
 This one is lovely too

February trip to MBG

Well, at the start of our 3rd year of MBG trips, I think we finally hit the camelias at the right time.
Reflection of me in Ben's glasses!!!!
Reflection of the trees in the pond
My monthly tree picture
The snowdrops are through and blooming, but that's about it.....

Orchids by day

The orchid show was so busy that we didn't get chance to see many of the flowers.  What a pity, we'll just have to go back!!!!

Orchids by night

Arline and I went to see the orchid show at night (should it be called the Orchid Glow???!!!).  We both agree that although it is nice to see them at night, they definitely look better in the daytime.  I have no idea how they get them to be so spectacular-there are so many flowers on this one
I like the small flowers better than the large ones
These are lovely
Very unassuming and close to the ground, but should not be overlooked
Nice cluster of flowers from the different plants
Another spectacular display

January trip to MBG

We have moved into the start of our 3rd year going to MBG each month. There is always something new to see, but it was pretty bleak in January.
No matter how hard Arline tries, Ben can still hide behind her!!!!
They are still taking the decorations down from the Garden Glow
Definitely looking gloomy!!!
Still some cool things to look at though
Thank goodness, some life and colour in the Temperate House
It was still a nice day to wander around and find some good winter photos

Back to the old routine.....

Well, the Winter break has finally come to an end and we are all back at work/school tomorrow.  It seems like we have been off for ages, but the kids have been out of school for less than 2 weeks.  We went to Little Rock for a few days over Christmas, but haven't done too much since we got back home.  Actually, we have got caught up with many things, the kids got haircuts, I got my feet done, all the laundry is clean, Ben got a new phone, Maggie got a new computer, all is right with the World.....
Unfortunately, we have had our usual start to a new year.  It seems like every year we hope it's going to be better and it never starts off well.  We used to keep a running total of calamities in the lab, but it got to be too depressing!!!!  First of all, Milly and Rich went up to Fayetteville to visit family.  While they were there Rich fell and broke his hip.  He had to have the head of his femur replaced and is now in rehab until he's well enough to travel back to Little Rock.  Ben passed out in the kitchen on Monday and hit his head on one of the cabinets.  Luckily, I caught him before he hit the floor.  Sam and I both went to the dentist yesterday.  I had 3 of my teeth extracted and a bunch of other work done.  Hopefully, I can hang on to the rest of my teeth, but they are getting hard to take care of.  Apparently, it's a genetic thing....
Hopefully all will be OK and get back to normal once the routine starts again.  January is always a crazy busy month for me, I just need to get through it.....

Winter weather and old buildings

Ben and I were going in to work on Friday when I got a call from a colleague that there was flooding in the medical school building.  I was dreading what we were going to find when we got there.  This was a collapsed ceiling tile outside my lab in the corridor-not good
Luckily, there was very little water damage in my lab or office, just a couple of ceiling tiles were wet, but nothing had leaked through
Ben helped Grant cover up all the microscopes on the floor below my lab, there was about an inch of water on the floor
The ceiling had completely collapsed on one of the desks in the microscopy suite
This bucket was in the lab next to mine and was completely full
Water on the floor in our old break room, I gave the room up so it could be used as an office, maybe they won't be thanking me now!!!!!
