Garden Glow 2018

We go to the Garden Glow every year, although I suspect it's the same every year!!! Still, it's nice to go for a wander around the garden at night and their drinks are pretty spectacular (if a little too alcoholic!!).  The grand basin with its Christmas trees
Trees changing colors
I like this one!!!!
I love the lights, but the lit up trees are the best
Gate House-always looks spectacular and I suspect everyone in St Louis wishes they live here

"3 French Hens"
Is this Christmas or Halloween?????
Lights in front of Linnean House
We lucked out this year and it wasn't cold at all when we went.  Downside was that all of St Louis took the opportunity to come out!!!!

November trip to MBG

Ben and I met Arline at MBG on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. The Gardenland Express exhibit had just opened, so we were able to visit and stay in the warmth for longer (it was very cold that day)
We always like to find "Dad's train" with its Gramps container
They had some models of the MBG buildings this year, they were really nice to see
The wreaths were not as impressive as in previous years.  This one got my vote as the best, but Arline and Ben didn't even rate this one!!!!
We found these flowers on the ground in the Climatron.  Ben and I picked some up and brought them home, but they had gone completely flat by the next day.  Never mind, it was worth a shot
The Climatron never lets us down....
Temperate House had some nice poinsettias around the fountain
We chanced seeing if there were any blooms on the camellias and we were in luck.  A couple of the trees had some nice flowers, one had even started to go over already

October trip to MBG

Ben and I met Arline at MBG but there wasn't much to see this time.  As you can see, it was a really nice day
We did find these azaleas flowering in the English garden
and these, but I've no idea what they are......
It was Ghouls in the Garden, so there were loads of kids in costumes and lots of decorations

September trip to MBG

They have a corpse flower that is ready to bloom. Thankfully, it wasn't blooming yet. I've smelled enough of them to know I don't really need to smell another one!!!!
They had an exhibit of plants related to the corpse flower in the Linnean House
It was a beautiful day and I got some nice shots of the sun shining through the trees
We even made it over to the Japanese garden and I got a picture of Arline's tree
Nice picture of the sun shining through the trees
Water lilies are still flowering

August trip to MBG

The best thing at this time of year is the water lilies.
This water mimosa has taken over completely!!!!

Nice combination of lilies and glass
I love these succulents

Flora Borealis at MBG

Ben and I went to Flora Borealis with Arline. It was interesting, but not nearly as good as their usual exhibits.  I think they tried to do too much with too little-something for the kids, something with conservation, etc.  Still, it's always nice to go to the Garden at night when they have it lit up
Nice lights by the sidewalk

MBG May visit-a little delayed

Our May visit was a little sabotaged this year-thunderstorm, basement flooding (Arline), no hot water or air conditioning (us).  So, our May visit took place the first week of June.  It has been so hot that we did not think there would be that much to see.  We have missed the azaleas and peonies entirely.  They have an aroid exhibit in the Linnean House, so I did get a picture of something we haven't seen before
My usual picture of the "there be monsters" statue.....
Not sure we've seen these either....

Trip to MBG April 2018

It was just Arline and me this month. Maggie was at a church thing and Ben was working at SLGC.  It was an absolutely beautiful day.  Apparently everyone else in St Louis though the same thing because most of them were there!!!!
They have opened the museum after the building has been restored, it's the first time it has been opened in 25 years.  The building is really amazing.  The painting on the ceiling is really beautiful
I tried to take an artistic photo looking through the windows!!!
They had loads of ranunculus this year, one of my favourite flowers.  I wish they would hang around a little longer
These were in the Ottoman garden, no idea what they are, and they are very unassuming, but I would love a whole bunch of them!!!!
These are not peonies, they are some kind of fancy tulip!!!
The tree that I take a photo of every month.  I'm not sure that we have caught it flowering before
The miniature iris were blooming.  It's a bit too early for the others, but some of these were lovely
Lots of tulips around
I dragged Arline to the Japanese garden this time.  It's always lovely there.
